Northern Ireland to play Belarus on May 27th in Belfast
Following successful negotiations between the Irish Football Association, Belarus Football Federation and Milenio Sports, Northern Ireland will play Belarus in a friendly A International Match on Friday 27th of May at The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, Belfast. Incredibly this will be first meeting of both countries who have never drawn each other in UEFA or FIFA competition at A level and indeed have never met in a friendly A International. For Northern Ireland the match is critical in its preparation for the finals of UEFA France 2016 where they will face Poland and Ukraine who both share a border with Belarus and are similar in technical style. Northern Ireland will travel to Austria the following week for a 4 day training camp before Slovakia await in Trnava on June 4th as the final friendly opponent for Michael O'Neill's' team before transfer to the finals base camp in Lyon.
