FIFA World Cup Quarter Finalists Belgium to play Iceland in friendly on November 12th
Belgium will play Iceland in a friendly A International Match in the King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels on Wednesday November 12th organised by Milenio Sports Management.
Belgium have risen to a record 5th in the FIFA Coca Cola World Rankings following a successful FIFA World Cup Finals in Brazil where they reached the quarter final stage only to lose out to eventual finalists Argentina.
Iceland (FIFA Rank 47) are coming off the back of their most successful qualifying campaign in their history having narrowly missed out on qualification to the FIFA World Cup Finals in Brazil losing the playoff to Croatia last November . They will look forward to their qualifcation matches for UEFA France 2016 with great hope and expectation and the match in Brussels will be ideal preparation for their key qualification fixture away against Czech Republic which will take place 4 days later on Sunday 16th in Prague.
This will be the first meeting of both countries since 1977. They have met 8 times with Belgium emerging winners on each occasion.
The match will form part of a double header at home for Belgium who play Wales 4 days later and will be looking to establish a solid platform with a good performance against Iceland to take into this key game for the Red Devils.
